Fine Food, Wine, And Cars: The German Experience

by Vicky Mills

Germany is known for many things other than  beer, oompah music, and sausages. These are the items commonly found at Oktoberfest, but they do not reflect the quality items that Germany offers the world, such as fine food, fine wine, and fast cars. German culture is a major force in many countries, including the United States, so you should make it a mission to explore its many contributions.

Food

Germany offers a surprising variety of foods that you may not find on your beer garden menu. One of their more delightful treats is Kartoffelpuffer, a pan-fried pancake consisting of grated potatoes combined with flour, egg, onion, and other seasonings. You will not be able to have just a taste, so forget about counting calories and dig in.

Another fine German food is apfelstrudel, or apple strudel, a traditional apple pastry that is made with sugar, raisins, bread crumbs, and cinnamon. The pastry is wrapped around the filling many times and then finally baked. The fine fluffy layers of pastry combined with the sweet filling will render you unable to resist seconds.

Wines

Germany is known for its fine riesling wines, which are light, often sweet wines that are popular for everyday consumption. By far the most produced wine in Germany, the country's entire wine industry is based upon this variety. Since riesling is popular everywhere, the German vintners should have few worries about their job security. You will also get hooked on its flavor once you try it.

Cars

One of the most luxurious cars in the world, the BMW, is made in Germany. Long known for its superior engineering and sophisticated style, BMW sold more than 2,000,000 vehicles worldwide in 2014. As a result, many quality BMW auto repair businesses exist in the United States. The BMW continues to be a status symbol for people who love their finely engineered cars. If you do not own one already, chances are you have dreamed of buying one.

If Germany only brings forth thoughts of Oktoberfest, you need to dig a little deeper and learn more about what the country offers. Excellent food and drink are staples of the German experience as are BMWs. You will find German food and wine available in shops across the country, so take time to sample the goods. If you own a fine German automobile, you will be able to take your own car to a shop for BMW repair services.
