3 Things That Can Destroy Your Windshield

by Vicky Mills

Your vehicle is made up of a lot of different parts. Oftentimes, you hop in your vehicle and head out for a drive without ever stopping to think about all of those intricate components. That is until something goes wrong. What started out as a nice day for a ride turns disastrous as something comes crashing into your windshield. Now, you are left having to deal with getting your auto glass repaired so you can see once again. Explore some of the common items that could end up destroying your windshield and causing you to have to get a new windshield put in.

Rocks

When driving down the expressway, many people don't think about a rock possibly flying at their windshield. They figure it is a paved road, so why should there be any rocks flying around? However, a vehicle entering the expressway might have just come from a dirt road. Those rocks that were once stuck in their tire tread are now flying all over the place. The excessive speed of the vehicle traveling down the road combined with the sheer thrust of the rock being propelled from the tire tread is all it takes to crack your windshield and leave you with a major disaster.

Birds

While you expect birds to stay flying high in the sky, there is always the chance that a bird could end up swooping a little too low and end up in your windshield. Driving 70 miles per hour down the expressway, you aren't exactly going to jerk the wheel to swerve in an attempt to miss the bird. That could end up being even worse for you. That one bird could shatter your windshield with one hit.

Random Objects

Even though people know they aren't supposed to throw their garbage out their window, that doesn't stop people from doing it. A random cup could end up chipping a windshield in mere seconds. The velocity at which that cup can fly through the air could end up being far more excessive than you think. That cup can become even more dangerous if someone were to have left a bunch of liquid inside. Garbage of any sort can cause a lot of problems for those who happen to be behind the litterbug.

If your windshield ended up getting cracked due to one of the things above, you can turn to an auto glass repair specialist who can get the job done for you.
