Who To Call When You Need A Junk Car Removed From Your Property

by Vicky Mills

Most cars have a limited lifespan, even when maintained, because parts start to wear, and finding replacements can be challenging. If you have an older car sitting around that is not running, you may be considering free junk car removal, and there are several places you may want to start.

Junk Car Removal

When you need someone to come and take your old junk car away, you may want to look for someone to do it for free. Some services offer to pay cash for junk cars, but if you don't have one near you, the next best thing is to find someone to take the car without charging you.

Salvage yards often offer free junk car removal services because they depend on parts and scrap steel to run their business. Not every junkyard wants older auto parts, but many will take anything for free. Call the local salvage operations, and you will eventually find someone to take the car off your hands without charging you.

Car Removal Services

Some services are independent of the salvage yards but are using the car for scrap and will pay something for it, or take it away for free. These businesses are often smaller than salvage operations but will take the car or truck and strip it of everything that is not recyclable. Their goal is to salvage as much metal as they can, then sell it for scrap when the prices rise high enough to make it profitable.

These services may not have a lot of storage area, so you may have to wait a couple of weeks for them to come to get your car, but in most cases, if you have one available, they will take it.

The free junk car removal service will give you an estimated time when they will come after the car, and in some cases, they will send a wrecker service to your home to pick up the car or truck on their behalf.

Donate Your Junk Car

Another option to consider is donating your junk car to a charity. There are quite a few charitable organizations that will take the vehicle from you, scrap it out, and take the money from the sale of the material and use it to fund the organization.

The number of charity organizations offering these services is growing all the time, and it is an excellent way to get the car out of your yard while helping the charity. Donating the car also means you can claim the vehicle's value on your taxes, and most groups will issue a receipt that you can present with your tax filing at the end of the year.
