Keeping The AC In Your Fleet Vehicles Working Properly Throughout The Year

by Vicky Mills

Vehicle air conditioning systems require maintenance and service throughout the year to ensure they work correctly. Maintaining the air conditioning on one car or truck is relatively easy, but if you own a fleet of trucks, you may need a truck fleet AC service provider to handle the upkeep and maintenance on your trucks to ensure the AC systems are working when necessary.

Fleet Services

Many trucking companies use fleet services to maintain their trucks and keep them running correctly. The air conditioning on these trucks also needs service and repair, and using truck fleet AC services to maintain the system is one option that could work well for your needs.

Fleet services can handle most of your service and repair needs, but AC systems can be complex and take time to inspect, repair, and service. Separating the general maintenance and the AC maintenance is a good option for large fleets and allows repairs to the AC system that is specific, so the truck is only in the shop for a short amount of time.

An AC tech specializing in the service and repair of these systems can go over all the components quickly, test the system, and make repairs as needed then get the truck back in service quickly. As the AC systems become more complex, having access to fleet AC services is often the best way to deal with repairs, and while the AC may not seem critical, it is for a driver that spends weeks at a time in the truck in parts of the country that often have higher temperatures throughout the year.

AC Inspection And Repair

If the air conditioning system is not working correctly in a truck, taking it to the shop and waiting for service techs to look at it can take some time. If you are using a Fleet AC service provider, the tech can skip that other service and go straight to AC inspection to determine where the problem is.

Once diagnostics are complete, the AC tech will determine what parts are required and make the repairs to the truck's AC system. Dedicated truck fleet AC services will have many necessary parts in stock to make the repairs, reducing the time the truck is down or sitting and waiting for parts to arrive.

Larger fleet service providers may have service centers around the country that allow the driver to take the truck in while they are on the road. A fleet truck waiting for a turnaround or a driver that is out of hours and must take some time down can have the AC service done during that time. While this may not be necessary for a truck running in the northeast in January, it can be vital for a vehicle in the southwest all year long.
